Our Mission
We aim to create a safe, supportive, and joyful space where every child can grow in confidence, skills and creativity. Our experienced team of educators and child development specialists are dedicated to giving children the very best start for school - and for life.
Is Headstart Gym appropriate for my children?
Our core age groups are years 3 to 6 but we have capacity to nurture babies aged 18 months up to kids aged 9 years old.
Rest assured that your children will get the independent care and nurtured learning during their sessions and that classes won't be oversubscribed and a detriment to their development.
What purpose does Headstart Gym serve?
We believe there is currently a lack of suitable child class services in the local area where we are based. As such, parents in the local community are restricted in the variety of developmental experiences for their kids to keep them engaged, for both their physical and mental health.

Our team of passionate instructors is committed to providing top-quality child classes, focusing on sensory development, motor skills, and building confidence. Each member is dedicated to creating a supportive and enriching learning environment for every child.
Venus Burtenshaw
Founder, Managing Director and Lead Educator and Child Development Specialist
Venus has over 20 years of experience and training in child development from babies to young children of primary school age. She has formal education with expertise in child development and sensory integration. Pivoting from the education public sector, she created Headstart Sensory Gym as an alternative and innovative teaching method. She is passionate about child development and fostering a supportive learning approach as well as creating a vibrant learning space for children.
